Well, the most important concepts I learned in this module is Design Thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that integrates the needs of people , the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.
In other words, it involves a structured process for generating and developing ideas, often iteratively, to create solutions that are both feasible and desirable.
Design Thinking is a methodology aimed at generating solutions from a challenge. It is divided into five phases: Empathy, Definition, Ideation, Prototyping and Validation. Once the process is finished, you can return to any of the phases from which to start a new iteration.
Stages in a Design Thinking process
Empathize
The goal of this phase is to identify relevant wants and needs for the user.
Define
Second stage of the process. In it, we organize all the information collected to identify all the areas of opportunity from which we can offer relevant solutions to the desires and needs of the user.
Ideate
Once the challenge has been established (which can also be reformulated or refined) we move on to the design part of the solution. In this part of the process, the first phase we will go through will be ideating. In the Ideate phase, or Ideation, it is about giving the greatest number of ideas possible that respond to the challenge posed.
Prototype
The prototyping phase is the one in which we give shape to ideas, make them tangible. That way, we can show them to the user, who can give us feedback and say to what extent the solution we are designing for them fits their needs or desires.
Validation or test
It is the moment in which we show our solution prototype to the archetype for which we are designing. The validation phase requires preparation. We will have to establish the objectives, build the guide and, finally, show the user our solution.
In this phase, it is important that we understand that we are not selling. It is about learning from user feedback to later make a new improved version of our solution.
Design Thinking is a user-centered methodology. And action-oriented. The objective of which is to generate solutions according to problems detected in a certain framework.
I believe that technology has played and is recently playing a very important role in society since everything around us is based on electronic devices. Regarding education, I consider that everything had been different until the pandemic arrived, since many things had to be modified to try to “lead a normal life” . At first it was difficult since I did not know how to handle some applications in which teachers assigned homework or we received classes. I think my biggest challenge was becoming familiar with the different tools but then I realized that it was a very fun and innovative way to give and receive classes since they were different methods but captured the students' attention. We were forced to use different methods to continue with classes but the advantage is that different methods and advances that artificial intelligence offers us were discovered. Nowadays we not only continue with the applications we started but also different technological methods are being implemented within the classroom.
AI can have a great positive impact for education, especially because they are effective in freeing us from administrative and repetitive tasks, and instead give teachers and students more time and energy for more important activities.
The way in which I would like to apply these concepts in my future teaching is
Automate administrative tasks
since university professors spend a lot of time grading exams and assignments . AI can be of great help by making this work much faster and can even give recommendations to solve possible learning problems for class topics.
Nowadays it is very easy for technology to review multiple choice exams, and it is also getting closer to grading written answers as well .
These functions free up teachers' work time , time that can be used for individual tutoring with students, for example
Tutoring and support outside the classroom
There are increasingly more tools to support learning outside of classes, but in coordination with the teacher's program and methods. Many students require additional tutoring , which can be expensive and may conflict with the rest of the course schedule.
The tools with AI will make the study time at home coordinated with the entire course and according to the needs of each student.
